F-A-Q
How do I know if my child is ready for Kindergarten?
Can your child share? Does he/she express his/her needs? Is your child
able to sit to listen to a story? These are good indicators of kindergarten readiness.
Your child does not need to know his/her letters/numbers before entering kindergarten--we teach those
things--but will feel less overwhelmed if he/she does recognize his/her name and can possibly write it.
What supplies does my child need?
Your child just needs a regular size backpack (the less zippered pockets,
the less items to be lost!) We supply crayons, paper, scissors, glue, and a homework folder that has pertinent kindergarten
information. They do not need a notebook, dividers, or folders.
Please put your child's name or initials on each sweater, jacket, and backpack!
When will I get to see the classroom?
We have a Parent Caravan, usually in early February, in which you will be able to see all the classes
in the school. There is also a Kindergarten "Orientation/Tea" in early May, in which the future student and their parents
may meet the Kindergarten teachers and visit the classrooms. This is an afterschool event.
Do Parents get to help in the classroom?
Yes! At the Kindergarten level, we strongly encourage parents to sign up to help on a regular
basis, (unless you feel you child is struggling with separation anxiety and this would make it worse.) For parents with
less flexible schedules, field trips and occasional special activities provide for the occasional help.
